1. Amendment 0001 to Solicitation 1333MK25Q0137 is to address questions from vendors.
The solicitation states the following dimensions,
Quantity and Size: Forty-four (44) mattresses,
Twin XL Minimum height: 8 inches Maximum height: 10 inches Dimensions not to exceed 38” x 80”
Q1. Is this twin mattress size acceptable to you?
A1. Yes 38.5W by 79.5L is an acceptable size. We are able to squeeze these mattresses into our racks on the ship but they should not be any larger than the 39W x 80L size that you are seeing.
Q2. Do you require a special ordered mattress in the desired dimensions?
A2. No 38.5W by 79.5L will work.
Q3. Do you need the mattress to have a Euro Top, Top Plush?
A3. Mattresses that are GOLS and GOTS certified for wool, cotton, and latex that do not contain proteins that cause latex allergies are acceptable. These types of mattresses do not have polyurethane foam and abide by 16 CFR Part 1632 and/or IMO Resolution A.688(17). Foam that is CertiPUR-US certified (made without harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, heavy metals, or ozone depleters and low emissions of volatile organic compounds) that abides by IMO Resolution A.688(17) is also acceptable.
If a mattress with a "topper" is the only option a Euro Top should be acceptable where an extra layer of padding is stitched beneath the mattress cover rather than sewn to the top of it. The Euro Top should create a stacked and uniform appearance which should provide a thicker, more supportive bed.
Q4. Do you have a spec for the fabric material covering the mattress?
A4. For a mattress covering, please ensure it is durable, washable, breathable, and removable. Sometimes these mattress coverings can make the mattress very hot to sleep on so I'd like the crew to have the option to use it or not so most importantly make sure it is removable.
If the mattress cover is not removable ensure it is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton or bamboo.
Q5. Should the mattresses be memory foam, hybrid, or is there flexibility in the construction type?
A5. We require a memory foam or memory foam hybrid mattress.
Q6. Are there any specific features or preferences (e.g., waterproof covers, edge support, hypoallergenic materials) that we should be aware of?
A6. Memory foam or memory foam hybrid mattresses that have GOLS-Certified Organic Latex (which is hypoallergenic for latex allergies), GOTS-Certified Organic Wool, GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton is our number one preference to comply with IMO mattress regulations. Foam that is CertiPUR-US certified (made without harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, heavy metals, or ozone depleters and low emissions of volatile organic compounds) that abides by IMO Resolution A.688(17) is also acceptable.
Q7. Delivery of the mattresses includes placing them onboard the ship Pisces?
A7. No. Just delivery to the warehouse.
Q8. Are we responsible for placing inside each stateroom?
A8. No.
Q09. Are there any other special conditions we should be aware of? Prior registration of transportation vehicles, drivers, operators, other?
A09. Just follow what states on the Complete Solicitation SF1449, SAM.gov, Specs, including Clauses and provision, amendments and any other information on this solicitation pertaining this requirement.
2. This Amendment is to also update the Statement of need please see attached “Updated Mattress_ SON”.
3. This Amendment is now extended to allow for vendors quotes, for new dates please refer to SAM.gov solicitation.
4. All of the other terms and condition remain the same.

11. VENDOR SHALL PROVIDE MANUFACTURE DOCUMENTATION/ DATA SHEET OF THE ACTUAL PROPOSED PRODUCT WITH THE DESCRIPTIONS WHERE THE PROPOSED PRODUCT CLEARLY MEETS THE SPECIFICATION ON THE STATEMENT OF NEED.
