The Gas Sensing Metrology Group (GSMG) of the Chemical Sciences Division is responsible for developing, critically evaluating, and applying techniques for the identification and measurement of gaseous species. The group applies these techniques with the certification of gas standards in support of industries responding to U.S. and state regulations and fairness in trade issues. The primary concern is to provide the infrastructure for high-quality, traceable gas measurements, allowing better decision-making by industry, regulators, government officials, research scientists, and the public. Measurement services are provided through the development of reference materials including NIST Traceable Reference Materials (NTRMs), Reference Materials (RMs), Standard Reference Materials (SRMs). The GSMG needs to purchase a gas chromatograph with a flame ionization detector and pulsed discharge helium ionization detector in order to support the development of SRMs, NTRMs as well as for standards used for international comparisons and other certified compress gases.

Amendment 0001 is being issued to provide a readable verison of the Requirement/Specifications.
Amendment 0002 is being issued to provide government rssponse to additional questions submited from industry and extend the due date for offers.
- Do you want separate Valco gas sampling valves for the FID and PDHID channels? Or do you want one dual gas sampling valve that will simultaneously inject on both? Government Response: We would like two channels that can operate simultaneously OR in parallel
- What injection volume do you want, given your column and detection requirements? Government Response: The instrument needs to have sufficient space to allow for a 5 ml sample loop, but acceptance testing at NIST will be performed using a sample loop at or below 1 ml.
- Do you want to use capillary columns or packed columns? If so, what columns do you want to use, at least initially? Government Response: Routine analyses will be performed using a 12’ x 1/8” Hayesep D 80/100 packed column
- If you want to use capillary columns, do you want us to include at least one split/splitless inlet on the FID channel? Government Response:Not critical
- We assume you want us to include chromatography data system software with Agilent GC control. What about a control computer? Government Response: If an external computer is required to process the data, please provide one
- We assume you want on-site installation and training in Gaithersburg, Maryland? Government Response: Correct
- Do you want any Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)? Government Response: Acceptance testing will be performed after install at NIST
- Do you want a GC class at our facility? Government Response: We would like a class/training for 3 people
- Do you want any automated stream selection, or a stop flow valve to equilibrate sample injection pressure? Government Response: We need both a gas sampling valve (to select between samples) and a stop flow valve to allow pressure equilibration within the sample loop.
