The P1080 project includes the following major components: The Power reliability and water resiliency project provides increased reliability, resiliency, and capacity to the existing electric and water utility systems primarily responsible for the protection of nuclear-powered submarines and nuclear support facilities at PNSY. In order to support this on-base effort, there are two off-base private utility projects which are currently in design phase and will be needed to ultimately connect with the on-base work.
Off-Base Electrical: Provides modifications to the commercial power supply provided by Central Maine Power (CMP) to PNSY.
Off-Base Water: Provides modifications to the commercial water utility supply provided Kittery Water District (KWD) to PNSY.
THIS PROJECT is for the On-Base work. The On-Base project on PNSY provides upgrades and modifications to shipyard power distribution, energy storage, and onsite generation to increase capacity, capability, and resiliency of the microgrid. The scope of this project includes:
- New 35 kV Switchgear
- Upgrades to 5 Substations
- New power management
- Switchgear to DC battery
- ~ 11K LF AC Duct banks
- ~ 5K LF DC Duct Bank
- ~1K LF Gas Main
