The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to CEPHEID, to obtain computer equipment and a service maintenance agreement for the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP), Clinical and Environmental Microbiology Branch (CEMB). CEMB utilizes Cepheid GeneXpert Instruments within our Healthcare Wastewater activitiy to evaluate the use of the Cepheid Xpert Carba-R assay for the detection of targeted carbapenemase genes from healthcare facility wastewater, and by our National Reference Laboratory (NRL) which screens clinical rectal swab specimens for the presence of bacteria as part of clinical decision making and infection control practices. Our laboratories must meet a CLIA requirement that all major equipment, inclusive of the Cepheid GeneXpert instruments, have manufacturer required maintenance performed and stay under maintenance agreements to ensure reliable reporting of results. CEPHEID will provide CDC with service maintenance for two GeneXpert GX16-16, and one GeneXpert GX4-4. CEPHEID will also provide the CDC with a computer which is upgraded to Windows 10 and most recent Cepheid GeneXpert operating software, for use with CEMB’s Cepheid GeneXpert GX16-16, SN 816029.
This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
