The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Network Contracting Office 19 (NCO 19) is conducting a market survey and is seeking potential sources for Surgical Slushing Systems for the Salt Lake City VA Health Care System (SLCVHCS). This Sources Sought Notice is issued for information and planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation or a request for proposal and shall not be construed as an obligation or commitment by the Government. An award will not be made on any offers submitted in response to this notice, and it shall not be implied the Government is committed to providing any solicitation or award following this notice. The Government will not pay for any information received in response to this request, nor will the Government compensate a respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided. Requirement Items: SLCVHCS has two (2) surgical slushing systems in the operating room that are past end of life support and need to be replaced to provide continued patient care. Surgical slushing units are used in the operating room to create sterile surgical slush semi-frozen saline or irrigation solution for targeted cooling during procedures. Targeted cooling helps to minimize tissue metabolism and protect against ischemic injury during organ transplants, cardiology and other applications. Salient characteristics: The surgical slushing systems will be used by multiple services in the operating room and will be needed for the following procedures: Cardiac Surgery (e.g., topical myocardial cooling) Neurosurgery (e.g., cerebral protection during aneurysm clipping). Characteristics needed for surgical slushing units: Temperature range 20°C to 49°C (68°F to 120°F), with user-controlled set points. Fluid capacity Slush basin holds 2.0 - 4.0L. Warmer Basin 1.0 - 3.2L. Auto-Stir Feature that maintains consistency and prevents ice clumping. Unit must be compatible with Ecolab Hush-Slush Drape. Auto shut-off if incorrect or expired drape is used Drape usage limit of 36 hours System must not require alcohol transfer medium. System must have caster wheels to allow for easy transportation. Caster wheels need to be able to lock during surgical cases. Items to be purchased Two (2) surgical slushing systems.
