The Sources Sought number is FY25_USAFA_ Stratasys_Fortus_450mc and shall be used to reference any written responses to this sources sought.
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) anticipates a requirement that is being considered under a small business set-aside program. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) Code proposed is 335999. The size standard for NAICS is 600 employees.
This requirement is for USAFA to obtain a replacement industrial polymer 3D printer that can print mid-sized (~400mm^3) FAA/USAF qualified aircraft components in order to fulfill mechanical engineering senior design projects sponsored by numerous United States Air Force (USAF) organizations.
A Brand Name J&A for Stratasys Fortus 450mc will be provided at the time of the RFQ.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS/REQUIREMENT SPECIFICATIONS:
BRAND NAME: Stratasys Fortus 450mc
At a minimum, the equipment must:
- Have a build volume greater than or equal to 16x14x16 inches.
- Print using the Fused-Filament-Fabrication method
- Print certified, engineering grade, high performance thermoplastics such as certified Ultem 9085, Ultem 9085, Ultem 1010, ASA, Antero 800NA, Nylon 12CF, and dissolvable support.
- Provide data sheets with data on mechanical properties
- Be able to produce USAF/FAA approved parts for use on USAF aircraft.
- Have a minimum print layer thickness of around 0.005 inches.
- Have a print resolution of around 0.005 inches.
- Use 208V 3 phase, 18A power supply to ensure compatibility with available wiring
- Have a system footprint around 50”Wx36”D.
- Include delivery, system installation, and a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty
- Use a 3D printing slicer currently available to USAFA (Prusaslicer, Cura, GrabCAD) or another free/open-source and perpetual licensed software
Vendor needs to include installation and training.
In response to this sources sought provide the following capabilities package:
- Company Name

- Socio-economic status
- Any related specifications/capabilities in providing the requirement
