McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) is the premier bomb loading facility for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the sole-source of PBX (plastic bonded explosive) loaded general purpose (GP) and penetrator bombs used by the United States Navy and Air Force.
Building 190 is the initial prep facility for MCAAP’s “A-Plant” bomb production line. 2,000 lbs bomb bodies begin the production process here, where they are transferred to various prep stations by a powered overhead monorail before explosives fill, final assembly and palletization.
Address: 1 C Tree Rd, Building 190 McAlester, OK 74501
This custom-built monorail system was designed around MCAAP’s existing bomb prep equipment and the OEM who supplied and installed this equipment in 1979 became insolvent in 2022, leaving MCAAP without a supplier for repair parts and ongoing support.
