REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR GNSS DENIED NAVIGATION FOR AUTONOMOUS UNDERWATER AND SURFACE VEHICLES
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) is seeking information on capabilities for enhanced navigation for uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) and uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs).
Description
NSWC PCD is seeking information on localization techniques that can enable missions when Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data is degraded or unavailable and where an a priori map (bathymetric, topographic, etc.) is not known. Sensing modalities of interest include but are not limited to acoustic, electro-optic, and magnetic which are suitable for deployment on platforms such as UUVs and USVs ranging in size from man-portable to large diameter vehicles. Feature extraction and general perception processing approaches should be considered. Solutions can augment inertial navigation systems to limit accumulation of position error (drift) or provide standalone localization via loop closure methods and should be able to converge within a timeframe that is relevant for real-time operation without an operator in the loop.
The applicable PSC code is 6605. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 334511. Size Standard is 1350 employees.
