NPR MR Breast Coil with Applications Training GENERAL: The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital Radiology service has an urgent need to expand breast imaging to include Breast MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) at the New Port Richey VA Clinic, 7900 Little Rd, New Port Richey, FL 34654. The Philips Ingenia Ambition 1.5T MRI unit (EE# 180752) requires an upgrade of a breast coil with software interface and applications training for clinical staff. Currently the New Port Richey VA Clinic does not have the ability to provide timely, complete, and appropriate MRI Breast imaging for veterans. BACKGROUND: The MRI department at New Port Richey VA Clinic is expanding its service line to provide MR Breast imaging for our Veterans. The breast imaging program is focused on expanding to the outpatient centers to provide comprehensive care throughout the medical center catchment area for the convenience of Veterans and to reduce the need for community care. MRI Screening exams are important for Veterans who have very dense breast tissue, history of breast cancer, or deemed high risk for breast cancer. It has been indicated that updating the Philips Ingenia Ambition 1.5T MRI unit (EE# 180752) with a breast array coil, imaging sequence and one day applications training would be necessary. Applications training consists of teaching staff how to use the software that is currently installed in the MR unit to ensure high quality imaging and adherence to appropriate protocol measures is required.
