Introduction: The Heber/Kamas Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is in need of
services for Heritage surveys, data collection & corresponding reports.
2. Background: Contract archeological clearance will occur in the Soapstone area with the potential for
phasing with survey work over multiple years. Level of survey required based on slope conditions can found
in Appendix A. Project work will be a combination of timber sales using mechanical equipment, fuel
treatments using hand thin/piling, lop and scatter, and prescribed fire.
3. Purpose: The purpose of the Soapstone NEPA project is to implement the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National
Forest Land and Resource Management Plan (LRMP) by treating hazardous fuels to reduce risks to
watershed, wildlife habitat, and recreation resources from catastrophic fire.
4. Scope of Work: The Contractor shall furnish all tools, labor, supervision, equipment, materials, supplies,
transportation, and incidentals necessary to accomplish heritage and botanical resources within the Soapstone
project areas, consisting of the following:
Conduct all surveys or collect on-site field data in the identified project areas (heritage). Reports necessary for
completing consultations with Tribes and State Historic Preservation Officer will be prepared in coordination
with Agency specialists. Agency personnel will complete actual consultations.
Complete a detailed project work plan and track progress on specific weekly tasks
