The total length of pipe rail fence to be installed in 0.51 miles. The work to be completed includes transportation of metal pipe (supplied by the U.S. Forest Service) from the Reserve Ranger District Office in Reserve, NM to the project site, installation (including cutting and welding of the metal pipe rails and setting of the pipe posts) of the new pipe rail fence according to the specifications listed in Appendix A, and removal and disposal of the existing barbed wire fencing material.
The existing North Fork Negrito Creek exclosure fence is a 4-strand barbed wire and metal post fence located along the North Fork of Negrito Creek. The exclosure fence purpose to protect the riparian area along the creek by prohibiting entry inside the exclosure by domestic livestock. Due to environmental conditions at the site the fence is often damaged due to falling trees or flood waters creating gaps making livestock entry possible. The intent of this project is to replace the barbed wire fence with a welded, 2-rail metal pipe / 2-wire smooth strand fence that is more robust to floods and other disturbances.
