The 377th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Vehicle Management Flight, Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) requires rental uniforms for civilian personnel and coveralls for military personnel, to include laundering services, for personnel performing vehicle maintenance repairs. Uniforms and coveralls will get soiled with dirt, grease, fuel, and other automotive related chemicals. Laundering is to be accomplished on a weekly schedule every Wednesday unless a Federal Holiday for approximately 3 uniforms/coveralls for up to 25 technicians. If this service is not provided, Vehicle Management will not be able to provide clean/serviceable work clothing to personnel performing vehicle maintenance duties.
Due to the nature of the chemicals involved in these duties, personal laundering is not acceptable as these chemicals can contaminate other personal clothing and washing/drying machines as well as municipal wastewater. Vehicle Management does not have the equipment or wastewater controls to establish in house laundering facilities. Failure to award a contract for these services would have a severe impact on the health and safety of the vehicle management work force.
