The Special Assistant (SA) serves as the executive assistant in the Bureau of Europe and Eurasia (E&E) Front Office supporting the Assistant Administrator (AA) and the Deputy Assistant. The SA works under the supervision of the Chief of Staff and in closely collaboration with the two Administrative Operation Specialists within the E&E AA’s Office. The incumbent is the focal point for the flow of paper and assignments to and from the AA’s Office and assists in a variety of ways, such as managing key priorities and activities of the AA’s Office; the incumbent assists with clearances and approvals of documents to and from the AA or Deputy Assistant Administrators (DAA); tracking and tasking actions and ensuring that they are completed by the due date. During this process the incumbent builds strong partnerships with intra-mission and interagency contacts. The SA administers communications, information, and recommendations to aid the Assistant Administrator, Deputy Assistant Administrators and Chief of Staff’s decision-making process on programs, operations and facilitates communication between the Bureau Offices.
