The Giant Voice system was initially installed 1998 and upgraded in 2012. The system has not had any upgrades since 2012. The controller was last updated in 2021, but is no longer able to communicate with the older system. This system has become increasingly unreliable and difficult to maintain due to the age of the equipment as well as the location/configuration of speaker stacks. Proposed solution will create a single technical environment and ensure component integration. Desire is to reduce overall system footprint if possible while increasing sustainability for the future.
Mass emergency notification and alert system, Giant Voice, located on Hill AFB will have a tech refresh completed in FY23. The system is used to notify the entirety of Hill AFB of weather or large scale safety incidents. The purpose of this requirement is to bring the system into a usable and maintainable system.
