General Information
- Scope of Work
The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (SMNRA) is seeking to purchase wildlife-friendly fencing to enclose spring emergences. Wildlife-friendly fencing can take several forms, we have decided on metal jack-rail fencing to minimize ground disturbance, ensure ease of set up, while protecting both the springs and dependent wildlife.
- Background
The SMNRA, and land management agencies in general, have historically used post-wire fencing. This style of fencing requires frequent maintenance and is harmful to wildlife. On the SMNRA fences are still a critical tool to protect sensitive resources, modern designs allow for the protection of these sensitive resources while not providing the same level of risk to wildlife that past fence designs have.
