This is a non-personal services contract to provide a contract Catholic Priest to conduct sacramental services during the periodic absence of a military Catholic Chaplain at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The number of Catholic Chaplains in the United States Army is very small, compared to the number of Catholic Soldiers and Families. The Chief of Chaplains assigns Catholic Chaplains to deployable military units so they are available to Soldiers while deployed. Often, a military installation only has one or two of these Catholic Chaplains assigned. When these Catholic Chaplains are deployed or engaged in field training exercises, they are unavailable to celebrate sacraments for the congregation. A contract Catholic Priest is necessary to conduct sacraments of Eucharist (Mass), Reconciliation, Anointing of the sick, Baptism, and Marriage, in the absence of a Catholic Chaplain.
NOTE: THE Archdiocese of Military Services (AMS) WILL NOT GRANT AN ENDORSEMENT FOR A PRIEST WORKING THROUGH A THIRD-PARTY STAFFING AGENCY. THE CONTRACT MUST BE HELD BY THE PRIEST OR HIS PARISH OR DIOCESE/RELIGIOUS ORDER. (see attached AMS Priest Third-Party Policy Letter)
