PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Lakeshore Road project is needed to improve
safety for motorists and pedestrians using Lakeshore Road and to enhance long-term public
access to recreation areas located within Elephant Butte State Park and Elephant Butte Reservoir.
The project is needed to improve drainageways that cross Lakeshore Road at four separate
locations through undersized culverts, causing significant roadway damage and closures during
heavy rainfall. Lakeshore Road provides visitors with access to a variety of public areas located
on the northern side of Elephant Butte Reservoir including general reservoir access, Three Sisters
campground, day use facilities, Rock Creek Marina, as well as private residences and businesses.
SCOPE OF THE WORK:
The proposed project includes replacing the existing culverts at four separate locations (Site 1 through 4) along Lakeshore Road with new culverts or bridges.
Specific items of work will include the following:
· Removal of structures and obstruction
· Roadway excavation
· Structural excavation
· Aggregate base
· Asphalt concrete
· Structural concrete class A(AE)
· Precast, prestressed concrete girder
· Reinforcing steel
· Reinforcing steel epoxy coated
· Bridge railing, steel
· Drilled shaft, 30-inch diameter.
· Construct and maintain diversions
