The original chilled water / hot water Carrier air handling equipment is still in place. Most of the HVAC equipment has been abandoned in place due to age and deterioration from 60 years of service. Many areas of the building are utilizing window mounted air conditioning units or have no conditioning. Electrical The original 1955 Wilson Electrical panels and conductors are still in operation providing all the electrical distribution for the three story building. New Siemens panels were recently installed in the North East and South West corners fed from panel L and will be incorporated into the electrical renovation. Project Scope The intent of Phase one of the renovations to the Academic Building HVAC and Electrical systems on the first floor is as follows: ABII HVAC & ELECTRICAL RENOVATION Sam Houston State University Page 7 of 22 Mechanical•Provide two new variable air volume (VAV) air handling units (AHU) and local digital controls. •Provide all new ductwork and diffusers. •Size AHUs with capacity to heat or cool all square footage designed for occupancy with offices. •Provide four pipe mechanical water distribution systems for new AHUs. •Provide new mechanical water pumping and controls •Provide new mechanical hot water non-condensing boiler. •Included in the sizing of the AHU’s, chilled water piping, hot water piping and boiler size is an additional 20% spare capacity built in.
