This is a sources sought announcement. The Marine Corps is looking to rent 8 snowmobiles near Anchorage, Alaska from December 6,2022 - December 16, 2022. The requirements for the snowmobiles are as follows:
- Utility/trail machine – We ride trails and backcountry areas. Mountain machines have too deep of tracks and will wear down faster.
- 4-stroke – Longer lasting, more reliable, and generally more power than the 2-stroke.
- Two-up seating – Provides bump plan for personnel should a sled break down.
- Extra tall windscreen – Provides additional protection from wind at temperatures of 60 below.
- Heated visor plug in - Provides additional protection from wind at temperatures of 60 below.
- Wide track (20”) – Provides better traction and stability on ice as well as while towing.
- Heated grips – For both driver and passenger. Provides additional protection from wind at temperatures of 60 below.
- Front skid plate – To protect machine from debris while riding.
- Storage Rack – Extra cargo space in order to provide immediate access to extra cold weather gear and supplies.
- Winches on half of total machines – Recovery plan in case of vehicle mishap.
- Handlebar muffs – Provides additional protection from wind at temperatures of 60 below.
- J-hook hitch – Needed to tow utility sleds.
- Toolkits specific to machine – Needed in case of breakdowns in austere environment.
- Block heater – Needed in order to ensure the machine will start in extreme temperatures.
