Lake Sherwood Lagoons Sludge Removal Work is to remove and properly dispose of sludge from the lagoons at the Lake Sherwood Recreation area on the Monongahela National Forest. Lake Sherwood Recreation Area -Located on Rt. 14 in Greenbrier
County, near Neola, WV. Approx. 27 miles north of White Sulphur Springs, WV. Work will begin September 19, 2022 and extend to October 28, 2022.
The estimated design quantity of sludge to be removed and properly disposed of is 45,000 gallons. The lagoons will be dewatered by the USDA Forest Service to a level just above the sludge prior to the beginning of sludge removal operations. Coordination of the beginning of sludge removal operations with the USDA Forest Service is necessary for lagoons to be dewatered before beginning sludge removal operations. It is required that the work be done by a septage hauler that is certified and registered under one of the two septage hauler general permits issued by WVDEP.
