Specifications include, but are not limited to: The goal is to decrease the number of seagulls and ravens accessing the Landfill by use of falconry and other means outlined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service permit. It is anticipated that 150 gulls and 20 common ravens will be removed. There is an assumption that gulls and raven are the problem birds; however if it is determined that other types of birds are causing significant problems, the Landfill would like those birds addressed as well. 1. Expertise Needed – A person/entity with experience using lethal and non-lethal methods of removal of problem birds. 2. Request is for a Master Falconer and his/her birds of prey at the Ada County Landfill to control and reduce the pest birds. Must have an Idaho Falconer’s Permit/ Idaho Hunter’s License, and Federal Falconer Permit. 3. Expectations/Outcomes A determination of the birds that are causing significant problems and the control and reduction of those pest birds. The bird abatement program is employed to be used as a scare tactic to get the nuisance birds to move and stay away from the landfill. The use of any explosives is absolutely prohibited in the control and reduction of birds. In addition, provide reporting on species removed, and method utilized to maintain permit compliance; 50 CFR Compliance.
