It is the intent of this project to and install guardrail in accordance with the specifications described herein or as directed by the Engineer, and to correct obsolete end treatments. 2. Department Personnel will mark the beginning point and end point. 3. The WVDOH reserves the right to determine and assign priorities for work on the various sections of damaged guardrail and/or protective barrier in existence at any given time. 4. All damaged or deteriorated guardrail that is removed will become the property of the contractor and shall be removed from the site by the end of the working day. The cost for hauling and disposing of removed guardrail shall be included in the unit bid price for various work items in the contract. 5. The contractor will be required to fill all vacated post holes before leaving the project. 6. If/When rail elements are installed on existing posts and blocks, the posts shall be realigned as directed by the Engineer at no additional cost to the Department. 7. Guardrail constructed 4 feet or less from utility poles or other obstacles shall have posts on 3 feet 1-1.5 inch spacing for 12 feet 6 inches on each side of the obstruction. The cost for the extra post is incidental to the bid price of all items included in this project.
