Specifications include, but are not limited to: he City of Little Rock Zoo is seeking repair of approximately 1,200 feet of black chain link fence. This section of fence begins at the west end of the Zoo’s south border fence. It is indicated by a terminal post just behind the Farm exhibit adjacent to the end of the Cedar Tree line. The end of the fence line project is where the chain link fence terminates to the 8-foot wooden fence, behind the Zoo Hospital/Maintenance building. Installation of new chain link, poles, top rail: The new chain link shall match the existing chain link in both color and height. It must be woven to the existing chain link in a seamless manner. Poles and rails must also match existing fence materials. a. Chain Link removal: Chain link must match existing fence in gauge and color. Must remove sections of chain link that will not be able to be re-stretched. Where trees have grown into the chain link, stumps on either side of the fence must be cut. Cut the fence where feasible to weave a new section of chain link. There are two notable sections. a. One, where trees have grown into the chain link. b. The second, where the fence was kinked from a falling tree during a previous storm. Poles and Rail replacement: Poles and top rail must match existing fence in gauge and color. Only one section of top rail will need to be replaced. In several places the top rail has become loose from the coupler and will need to be reinstalled. Replace couplers as needed. There are 24 line posts and 1 terminal post that are bent or leaning. The posts are required to be removed and replaced with new posts that match in gauge, size, and color. These will be cemented 30 inches with the pole set 24 inches. Terminal posts must be cemented 36 inches with the pole set 24 inches. Tree, Brush, Bamboo, Vegetation and Debris Removal: All debris and vegetation shall be removed off the fence, and away from the fence. A clearance of 12 inches shall be maintained from the top to the bottom of the fence line. Bushes and trees must be cut back or cut down to maintain this distance. Dead vegetation, leaves, and other debris shall be removed from the bottom fence line to provide 12 inches of clearance.
