Specifications include, but are not limited to: provide legal services, including advice and representation for the Metro Government for matters involving a multitude of legal issues, as assigned by the County Attorney. These services could include, but are not limited to, legal advice and representation regarding: complex civil litigation in state and federal court; section 1983 litigation; employment and labor law; tort and negligence claims; contract disputes and business transactions; real and personal property; class action cases; administrative boards and commissions; hearing officers; franchise; immigration; intellectual property; and collection and foreclosure matters on behalf of the Louisville Metro Government. Specifically, the Contract Attorney shall provide one or more of the following services: 1. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and leases 2. Advise Metro, its agencies and departments on legal issues defined above; 3. Represent Metro, its related entities, and/or employees in legal actions filed in state and federal court; 4. Serve as hearing officers at quasi-judicial hearings before Metro and Metro related boards and commissions; 5. Serve as legal counsel for Metro and Metro related boards and commissions; 6. Prepare Appellate briefs on behalf of Metro and its related entities and/or employees; 7. Investigate employment related complaints on behalf of Metro; 8. Represent “Metro Officials” before the Louisville Metro Ethics Commission; 9. Advise and prepare legislation for Louisville Metro Council members; 10. Other legal services as needed.
