Specifications include, but are not limited to: Following the record-breaking fire year in 2022 the New Mexico Reforestation Center (NMRC) governing board established a committee to evaluate potential sites for a New Mexico-based tree nursery capable of producing 5 million seedlings per year (16 times increase in the state’s current capacity). This nursery will serve all of New Mexico regardless of where it is located. The committee considered eighteen potential locations across the state and evaluated eight possible sites and determined four to be suitable for a nursery of this size: Espanola area (including Santa Clara Pueblo), Village of Mora, San Miguel County, and the Middle Rio Grande Corridor from Tesuque to Santa Ana Pueblo.
