Specifications include, but are not limited to: Borehole geophysical logging of wells in the Newport and Newport Center Quadrangles: This project provides 3-dimensional subsurface mapping data using the geophysical logging of bedrock wells to obtain key hydrogeological information for integration with 2D map data that will be collected concurrently. Geophysical logging remotely surveys a bedrock well using a series of sequentially lowered tools to acquire data on groundwater including physical properties (temperature and conductivity probes), lithology (borehole camera and gamma probe), well diameter (caliper), attitude of well structures (Acoustical Borehole Imager (ABI)), and groundwater flow directions and rates (Heat Pulse Flowmeter). We plan to log 17 bedrock wells in the Newport and Newport Center Quadrangles over a 2-year period contemporaneous with the bedrock geologic mapping – see Figure 1. The full scope of work includes data collection in the field, as well as data collation activities.
