Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Work with city staff to appropriately coordinate messaging for administration initiatives, as well as for the various city departmental programs and activities. • Prepare and/or review press releases, statements, announcements, and social media posts for routine city matters. • Serve as liaison with news media and coordinate events, photo opportunities, speaking engagements, etc. • Create proactive information and content to improve public awareness of city services programs, activities, plans and projects. • Create new strategies for enhancing city’s reach through traditional and non-traditional media and informational platforms. • Advise city regarding best strategies for engaging residents and gauging public opinion. • Read and understand local public sentiment and respond with appropriate content, placed strategically within appropriate platforms (digital, social media, etc.) to reach the widest possible audience. • Serve as an adviser to the Website Management Team to ensure consistent quality control and branding for all city websites, publications, social media accounts. • Provide city staff with activity status updates at least on a bi-weekly basis. • Write articles for various publications upon request.
