Specifications include, but are not limited to: x To deliver high quality medical services to attend to the medical needs of the inmate population at the facility. x To operate the medical service program using correction experienced and professionally trained personnel; x To operate the medical services program in a cost effective manner, including how annual increases will be handled, with full reporting to the County; x To implement a medical service plan with clear objectives, policies, procedures and evaluation of compliance; x To maintain an open collaborative relationship with the County Sheriff and Detention staff; x The vendor must provide a certificate of insurance showing that the vendor has professional liability insurance. x To offer a comprehensive program for continuing staff training including CPR certified training, mental health and first aid training; and, x To operate the medical service program in a humane manner with respect to the inmates' right to basic health needs. x Medical claims re-pricing. x How medical and mental health records will be keep. x The vendor will not use a medication formulary or implement any other barrier to health care (such as requiring corporate or supervisor approval before prescribing expensive medication). x Staffing. The vender will not use standing orders. x The vendor must provide an on-site prescriber who will remain on-site until all work is completed. A prescriber must be available by telephone to the facility’s correctional and medical staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. x The vendor must provide on-site nursing services at a minimum of 84 hours per week, and develop a plan for making up hours worked over or under the contracted amount. x Tuberculosis (TB) testing for officers and inmates.
