Specifications include, but are not limited to: Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and the US Fish and Wildlife Service are requesting bids for the construction of approximately 4 miles of new fence on private lands located in Iron County, Utah (see attached maps for project location). This project specifically entails, construction of approximately 12,160 feet (2.3 miles) of top rail fence (see drawing) and 9,020 feet (1.7 miles) of range fence that consists of 4-strand barbed wire fence with wildlife markers to the specifications listed below. In addition, twenty (20) 12-foot steel panel gates will be obtained and installed by contractor at the sites shown on the attached maps. The site consists of some meadow, brush flats, and some drainage crossings. Some areas will need to be cleared for access, which can be done using a mixture of hand crews/equipment. Fence location, boundaries, site maps, and access points will be reviewed at a pre-work conference. New Wood posts, Steel posts, etc. shall be set plumb (vertical), in complete alignment, dirt packed solid and to be sturdy. All wood posts and wood braces will be Juniper wood (Cedar Posts), unless specified otherwise. Completed fences shall be in alignment, taut, and solid at all points. Wire spacing will be measured perpendicular to the ground. All four strands of barbed wire to be 12 ½ gauge, 2 pt. Tie wire for braces to be 9-gauge steel. Steel panel gates will be provided and installed by contractor. Steel panel gates must be a minimum of 6-bar, painted, or powder coated, or galvanized, and approved by project manager. Wood post braces will be used to support steel panel gates. Steel T-Posts must be 6 feet in length and have a minimum weight of 1.33 lbs./ft. All metal gates must be hung with a minimum of 8 inches of clearance from the ground.
