Specifications include, but are not limited to: Have a minimum of 5 years of experience working with incarcerated populations. Work with a diverse population of Muslim Offenders. Will provide spiritual and cultural guidance regarding Islamic practices. Serve as an advisor to the Department of Corrections. Final decisions are that of the Director/designee and the Institutions Warden/Superintendent. Visit each institution a minimum of seven (7) times annually. Visits shall include, but not be limited to meeting with Muslim Offenders, the facility Chaplain or Spiritual Coordinator to resolve any existing issues related to the Muslim population. Serve as a resource to the Department of Corrections Offender Services Office in responding to Muslim religious grievances. Provide resources to the Muslim population at each facility. Approve or deny requests by offenders to participate in Muslim holy days. Advise institutional Wardens/Superintendents regarding removal of Muslim Offenders from Ramadan due to behavior issues. Annually provide the Departments Chaplains and Treatment Directors and Muslim Offenders with guidelines for Ramadan.
