Specifications include, but are not limited to: Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting information from qualified contractors to remove and replace existing sprinkler heads in Buildings 13, 21, 22 and 23 in the Frederiksen Court Apartment Complex on the North end of Campus. When pipe breaks during sprinkler head removal, Contractor will carefully cut drywall to repair piping breaks and will retain drywall piece at that location. Removed drywall pieces will be utilized by Others for reinstallation and drywall repair. i. Contractor to keep a list of all locations where drywall repair(s) and paint touch up(s) will be needed. ii. Patching and painting work by others. a. Color of sprinkler heads (white). Style to match existing by location. b. Like-for-Like replacement is required. c. Six apartment units per floor (three floors), two concealed pendant sprinklers, and 9 sidewall sprinklers per apartment unit. i. 18 units x 11 sprinklers per unit = 198 sprinkler heads in apartments per building. d. Hallways and stairways total= 50 sprinklers per building i. 1st floor – 19 (13 concealed pendants, sprinklers and 6 sidewalls) ii. 2nd floor- 15 (7 concealed pendants, 8 side wall) iii. 3rd floor- 16 sidewall e. Grand total is (198 + 50) = 248 per building f. Contractor to provide a minimum of 6 spare sprinklers for the spare sprinkler box (see NFPA 25 2020 Edition Document for spare requirements). g. Mechanical rooms and elevator equipment rooms have a different temperature rating than elsewhere. h. Drawings are design, not as-built. There may be differences in the field. i. Contractor to provide a per-unit cost for any additional replacements that may be needed (if there is a sprinkler head in place that is not shown on the drawings or counted above).
