Specifications include, but are not limited to: State intends to purchase program registrations from BIO Girls that focuses on mental health, mentoring and physical activities for refugees in North Dakota. BIO Girls is an evidence-based mental wellness program that focuses on mentoring and physical activity with a proprietary curriculum to support the healthy development of girls in second through sixth grade during a transformative time in their lives, a time when self-esteem is typically plummeting. The pillars include mental wellness, leadership, healthy relationships, and kindness. The program is made up of three elements: life-skills lessons, non-competitive physical activity, and positive mentorship. The program shows seven in ten participants experience a significant increase in self-esteem. Nearly 8,000 girls to date have participated in BIO Girls across the Midwest.
