Specifications include, but are not limited to: The North Dakota University System, an entity governed by the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education (SBHE), acting through its Core Technology Services (Collectively, “NDUS”), is soliciting information regarding an enterprise-wide data dictionary/data glossary solution or metadata and source data structure. Data plays a critical role in operations, effectiveness, and decision-making. Cataloging and defining data terms and data elements from both functional and technical standpoints is crucial to ensuring common definitions and understanding, as well as identifying and resolving inconsistencies. For NDUS, data definitions and documentation are foundational as we achieve the visions of the NDUS Information and Data Governance (IDEG) Executive Committee. North Dakota University System (NDUS) implemented a data glossary and data dictionary in the past several for years a portion of NDUS data and has built out common definitions (functional and technical); however, NDUS is looking to ensure ongoing tool availability for the basic data dictionary function (functional definitions, technical definitions, data classifications, related definitions, and links to supplementary documentation). Additionally, NDUS is looking to potentially add to our data cataloging and management capabilities with additional toolsets and features. The new functionality would aid in documenting source data structure, metadata objects, and external integrations, as well as explicitly mapping the underlying structures and objects to the data catalog.
