Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this project is to develop a conceptual design for an improved wayfinding system for the City of Des Moines' Skywalk System, including digital information kiosks with possible audio and video capabilities, mobile application development, and other potential alternatives used in the industry. A. Review existing signage for accuracies and relevance. This would also include recommended relocation and/or additional signage locations and/or types of signage. These signs currently include information directory kiosks, overhead directional signs, vertical access signs, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) plaques, and street identifiers. There are approximately 50 information directory kiosks, 110 overhead directional signs, 100 vertical access signs, 175 ADA plaques, and 50 street identifiers. B. Investigate signage alternatives for information directory kiosks, overhead directional signs, and vertical access signs including fixed message, digital displays, interactive displays with audio/video capabilities, mobile application and/or a combination of the various types. C. Develop conceptual design graphic comprised of proposed layout/locations of recommended equipment and signage within the skywalk system, and anticipated costs for all elements of the new wayfinding system, including anticipated hardware installation, connectivity options, software and data development, operation, and maintenance costs. D. Prepare a written report that supplements the conceptual design graphic with the recommended equipment and signage standard specifications, wayfinding guidelines, graphic rules, technology and communication performance specifications, locations/types, and anticipated costs suitable for use in creation of bidding and construction (hardware installation, software development) documents.
