Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking bids for the Removal of three Culbertson Road Oil Above Ground Storage Tanks. The tanks are comprised of steel, and all of the tanks are insulated and equipped with electric heating coils. There are no steam return or exhaust lines. An outside insulating material is present on the third (and smallest) tank and is comprised of a spray foam. The larger two tanks are presumed to contain a layer of insulation beneath the outer steel. The Department estimates only a minor amount of road oil sludge is present (visually inspected to be at levels below the spout, or a de minimus amount, in at least one instance). The tanks are equipped with electric pumps and starter controls, which were used to dispense the road oil to mobile distribution tanks. There is a concrete secondary containment curb surrounding the tanks, which is 41.5 feet long, 41.5 feet wide, and 13 inches deep (have 13,956 gallons capacity). The bottom of the area is gravel. There are also concrete saddles which allow the tanks to sit approximately 3 feet above the ground. There is also an additional set of concrete secondary containment walls surrounding the middle road oil tank, which are 16 feet wide, 26 feet long and 3 feet high. Lastly, there is a concrete ramp on the northwest entrance, which measures 17 feet by 12 feet. The Department will be responsible for disconnecting the power from the tank heaters and power pole, prior to starting the removal scope. The Department will also be removing the staircase (catwalk) for re-use at another facility, as seen in photos, prior to starting the removal scope.
