Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Perform all work in compliance with KYTC Standard Specifications current edition. • Saw cut pavement, excavate, remove existing structure, re‐channel and/or pump any water flow tha t ma y be present necessary to place the new structure. • Provide and place Class 2 filter fabric when dissimilar materials are encountered. • Place the new culvert at the highest available elevation possible to improve safety. Obtain approval of the Section Engineer on the final proposed grades of the new culvert. Construct culvert to provide a minimum pavement structure above the culvert consisting of 4” DGA, 8” CL 2 Asph Base 1.00 D PG64 ‐22, and 1” Asph Surf 0.38D PG 64 ‐22. • Construct culvert with 1/8” to ¼” per ft fall along flow line. The Section Engineer may approve variances based on field conditions during the work. Limits for inlet/outlet placement will be approved by the Section Engineer following review and acceptance of proposed layout. The final alignment of the new structure may differ from the existing drainage situation. • Mechanically compact all fill and backfill material as outlined in the Specifications. • Concrete aprons are permissible but not required at inlets and outlets of the box culverts.
