Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Sign Removal: The existing freestanding sign shall be removed and power to the sign safely terminated until the installation of the new sign. The existing electrical service may be used for the new sign or the conduit used to pull new electrical and ethernet cable to the sign. If the sign is to be connected to the Town’s wifi system, digital extenders will be required. B. Permits: The Town will be responsible for all permits required. C. Sign Installation: Within two weeks of sign removal, a digital, double-sided, approximately three foot high by six foot long, LED, changeable message sign shall be installed on a post or posts in the same vicinity as the pre-existing sign. The sign shall be mounted so as to be at least approximately four feet above grade to the bottom of the sign. A fixed, double-sided sign of durable material shall be placed above the digital sign displaying “Fairfax Municipal Offices” so as to be legible from Main Street traveling at 35 miles per hour. The digital sign shall have a pixel pitch of 10mm or better, pixel matrix of 40x120 or better, brightness of 5,000 NITS or better, and color capacity of 200 trillion colors or better. D. Setup: The contractor shall setup the installed sign no more than one month after existing sign removal so as to be operational by Town Staff. A single display message shall be used to start for a one-week test period with adjustments made to brightness, font, and colors for legibility. The sign shall be programed to ensure that Vermont regulations for signs are met with regard to transition time with messages, duration of display, and animations. E. Training & Support: The successful contractor shall provide a complete training on the use of the sign to at least three Town staff prior to completion of the project. F. Continuing Services: Any software, services, or required subscriptions necessary to operate the sign should be noted in the bid. Signs should be simple and secure to operate with minimal or no continuing costs.
