Specifications include, but are not limited to: Coordinate all activities with the Tanana Chiefs Conference or its representatives on site. Provide utility (electrical, communications, domestic water piping) location services. Provide traffic barricades and safety cones around the excavation site. Expose completely the location of the break in the 6” HDPE. Provide the required space to make the repairs requested by the mechanical subcontractor. This will require excavating approximately 80 to 133 cubic yards of fill. The cubic yards determined to be required to be excavated were based on a the repairs requiring a 4’ wide by 30’ to 50’ ditch, to a depth 9’ below grade for a distance of 30’ to 50’. Provisions were made for shouldering the banks of the ditch to meet OSHA regulations. Provide assistance to the mechanical contractor while they are on site making repairs. After completion of repairs and testing, re foam the repaired joints. The backfill procedure will be as follows; Bed and cover the exposed 6” HDPE insulated pipe with 6” of sand. Use excavated soils to refill the trench in 6” lifts. Each lift to be watered and compacted until the excavation has been filled to meet existing grade. Grade the excavation site to meet local drainage and to match existing grades
