Specifications include, but are not limited to: To support the State’s data goals, over the pastcouple of years Vermont legislation and data sharing policies have been revised to remove barriers to bi-directionaldata exchange, allow Department of Health staff expanded use of electronic health records, and encourage datacapture through the VHIE in service of more seamlessly managing immunization, electronic labs, and casereporting results. The VHIE was recently awarded Outcomes Based Certification from the Center for Medicare &Medicaid Services based, in part, on the public health outcomes enabled by the VHIE systems.The State and its partners agree that to fully participate in the vision of a Unified Health Data Space, public healthdata and systems must be integrated with the VHIE. The vision for bolstering public health management throughpartnership with the VHIE is to consider leveraging VHIE infrastructure to enhance public health operations (aneffort to reuse existing technical capabilities), incorporating public health data (e.g., immunizations, birth/death,cancer records) into the health record contained on the VHIE, and reporting for public health surveillance andmonitoring
