Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Matanuska Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD) is seeking bids from qualified design firms to complete condition surveys and create bid documents to upgrade sprinkler heads, acoustic ceiling tiles, and grid structures at various schools throughout the MSBSD. Work for this project is part of a FEMA Seismic Mitigation Grant. A. All work will be completed in a workmanlike manner according to standard practices. B. Selected design firm will complete ceiling assessments and develop bid documents to meet FEMA specifications in Appendix 7: School Site Location and Upgrade Information, Appendix 8: Ceiling and Sprinkler Seismic Mitigation Specifications, and Appendix 9: AsBuilts. Each site ceiling system may be a different age, condition, and require different components to upgrade the grid system to current code. C. The successful bidder will meet with MSBSD Facilities personnel three (3) times throughout the design process, per the following schedule: 1. Initial Meeting: June 5, 2023 2. Schematic Meeting: July 7, 2023 3. Final Meeting: August 15, 2023 D. Upon design completion the MSBSD Facilities Department shall receive three (3) hard copy sets of full-size approved plans, two (2) hard copy sets of approved specifications, one (1) digital copy each of the plans and specifications in the latest version of PDF, and one (1) digital copy of the plans in the latest version of AutoCAD. E. Work will be performed summer 2023 with the goal of having bid documents by August 15, 2023. The anticipated FEMA project for the repairs will bid as soon as the documents are ready, and work must be completed by Fall 2024. F. Additive Alternate: Bidder will provide full construction administration (CA) services during the life of this project. CA includes inspections, submittal and shop drawing review, answering request for information/clarification, and assistance with the construction bid. This may include biweekly meetings throughout the construction phase, as well as final inspection walkthroughs and punch list creation.
