Specifications include, but are not limited to: Purpose of the bid is to establish pricing for New Mexico Grown Fresh Produce on an “as needed” basis. APS reserves the right to bid any item(s) separately whenever it may be in its best interest to do so. Albuquerque Public Schools is the largest School District in New Mexico and it is important to contract with vendors that can provide and sustain the volume of fresh produce that are ordered all year round. Fruits and vegetables are an integral part of menu planning and are purchased on a continual basis. APS Food & Nutrition Services is responsible for several programs which consist of; School Breakfast Program School Lunch Program After School Snack Program Summer Food Service Program At Risk Dinner Program Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant Programs. Fresh Fruit and Vegetables will be contracted through New Mexico Growers only. Only New Mexico Growers will be eligible to submit pricing. Facilities and Farm Inspections: The District reserves the right, prior to award of any contract and throughout the contract period, to request a third party food safety inspection of the prospective awardees facilities and/or farm to determine that the awarded vendor has a regular, bona fide establishment that meets the District’s requirements. The District will select the third party agent. Areas of evaluation may include, but are not limited to fields, wash stations, packing sheds, and delivery vehicles.
