Please install heat tape on the following visors: Type 1 through-movement signal head (red, yellow, green). If multiple through signal heads exist, pick the one that you want to install heat-tape, taking into account the head most visible for the traveling public and accessibility to safely perform the work. Only one of the multiple type 1 through signal heads should receive the heat tape. Install heat tape for the red, yellow and green indication. (Do not install heaters on signal heads that are not mounted on the mast arms.) Left Turns. Only if the head is protected only or Flashing Yellow Arrow. If multiple left turn heads are present (e.g. type 3 heads), pick the one that you want to install heat tape on, that is most visible to the traveling public and is most accessible for installation. Please do not install heat tape to any type 5 (doghouse) heads, as these may be replaced soon in the future and the intersection will operate ok even if the doghouse signal is covered with snow.
