Make repairs and improvements to the plumbing system at the Water Distribution & Wastewater Treatment Facilities The Water Distribution facilities are located at: (a) 1825 S McLean Blvd, Wichita, KS 67213 (b) 2911 E 33rd St North, Wichita, KS 67219 The Wastewater Treatment facilities are located at: (a) Plant 2 - 2305 East 57th St. South, Wichita KS, 67216 (b) Plant 1 - 3100 S. Grove, Wichita, KS 67216 (c) Plant 3 - 4128 North 135th St. West Wichita, KS 67101-9549 (d) Plant 4 - 15800 East Harry, Wichita, KS 67230 (e) Plant 5- 8018 West K-42 Highway Wichita, Kansas The WD representative shall contact the contracted plumber to perform needed repairs and make improvements to the plumbing system at the facilities listed. The plumber shall be required to perform all work during normal business hours except in an emergency situation. B. Testing and Maintenance of Backflow Devices at City of Wichita Water & Wastewater Distribution facilities The plumbing contractor shall be required to have a Certified Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester who is registered with the City of Wichita (backflow program) as an approved tester of backflow devices. The tester shall be experienced in field-testing and certifying the backflow devices upon completion of all repair, rebuild, and annual inspections performed. Upon completion of performed test and rebuild of the devices, the tester shall submit the test certification using the city portal only. The tester shall demonstrate competency to test, repair, and maintain all types of backflow prevention assemblies as evidenced by completion of training and certification as required. The tester shall furnish all test equipment required in the industry to perform the field-test to verify the performance of the backflow device is in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. The annual test and five year rebuild test shall ensure the required level of protection is being provided by the backflow device attached to the city’s water distribution system. If the device fails the test, the tester shall notify the City representative of the malfunctioning unit. City shall decide to either repair or replace the unit. Should the city WD decide to rebuild the unit, the contractor shall supply all parts expeditiously to rebuild the unit and place the unit back into service. The Backflow Prevention Assembly test reports submitted to the City using the city portal shall include a minimum of the following: • Name and certification number of the backflow prevention assembly tester • Field test results • Repairs performed to the backflow device to obtain acceptable test results • Repair history (if any) • Type, size, make, model, and serial number of backflow device prevention assembly • Positive identification of the backflow prevention assembly test, which may include field tagging • Test equipment calibration information • Date and time of test • Location and address where the backflow device is located. C. Confined space entry to replace water meters on dedicated fire lines in vaults The plumbing contractor shall assist City field crews to change out leak detection water meters attached to fire line backflow devices located in vaults. As part of the meter change out process, the meter connections shall be modified to replace all hard piping and install brass meter couplings for future replacement of the meter. The plumber entering the vault is expected to be well informed and familiar about the hazards associated with confined space entry. The plumber contracted is expected to provide documentation to have had confined space entry training within the last one year. A City employee trained in confined space entry procedure shall be the lead person on the job site. City employee will be responsible for testing and monitoring the air quality in the vault using a gas monitor before entering the vault. The plumbing contractor shall assist the city crews by providing all labor and materials to replace the existing water meter, make the necessary plumbing modifications and install the new water meter. The above work shall be done during normal business hours except in the event of an emergency or planned fire line shut down as requested by the customer.
