Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall submit, for the City Engineer’s approval, current job mix formulas (JMF’s) for the individual mixes listed below. For a Superpave design, a current MAINEDOT approved Superpave JMF shall be submitted. If an alternate design similar to the former MAINEDOT designs for B, C, or D mixes is desired, the contractor shall submit previously MAINEDOT approved JMF's conforming to the MAINEDOT Standard Specifications, Revisions of March 2020. The JMF’s shall be reviewed and approved by the City Engineer or an independent testing agency. JMF’s may be submitted with the bid form or shall be submitted within two (2) business days following the bid opening. The job mix formula shall state the source, gradation, and percentage of each fraction of the aggregate and filler, if required. It shall state the name of the refiner and the supplier of the particular bituminous material to be used and the plant location. The Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement shall be composed of aggregate, filler if required, and Bituminous Material. The aggregate fractions shall be sized, uniformly graded and combined in proportions that will provide a mixture meeting the grading requirements of the job-mix formula. The aggregate materials used for the pavement must meet the State of Maine Department of Transportation Standard Specifications (Section 703.09) in effect March 2020 and all applicable AASHTO standards and latest revision thereafter. Modification in the gradation of the aggregate and for the amount of bitumen in the mix may be made to obtain optimum placing and finishing characteristics.
