Specifications include, but are not limited to: We are requesting Brand Name Only purchase of the Sony XVS-6000 Production Switcher System based on system operation being mostly the same as our current Sony switcher enabling a much faster transition process for system operators. The similar operation will let our production staff become familiar with the new switcher in a much faster manner, negating the need for extensive training with a new manufacturer. Extensive training required of a new system would greatly hinder our ability to go live from our Production Control Room. We are the emergency broadcast location for any state emergencies that the governor or other state representative will need to address the entire state of Idaho using our Production Control Room. Additionally, we can use most of our current wiring and configurations in our equipment racks with the new Sony switcher. This will result in a cost savings in materials and hours.. The Sony XVS6000 switcher is configurable for specific operations in a live broadcast studio. The XVS6000 is also compatible with the IP video input and output cards for the new video over IP standards for television studios. This format will be the future of Television Studios and we need to be capable of this standard to enable future growth and changes. The Sony XVS6000 utilizes a very specific SDI card that allows for future growth and changes without the need to completely replace the switcher as a whole. The Sony XVS6000 SDI cards have HD-SDI as well as 4K SDI signal input and output capability within the same SDI card. Along with the different signal types, the Sony XVS6000 also has a feature card that we can acquire that will allow for the conversion of signal types from one to another within the switcher mainframe. If future growth demands a change in the type of video signal we currently use, we can acquire this conversion card to ensure the changes needed will function as desired with some limitations without the need for external equipment some limitations, without the need for external equipment to enable the switcher to function as desired. The Sony XVS6000 switcher frame is already capable of the new IP video standard, SMPTE ST 2110. The only changes needed to convert this switcher over to IP would be to exchange the SDI cards for IP cards inside the switcher frame. This change can also be done partially or as a whole. Meaning that we do not need to change all SDI cards from one format to another. We can run this switcher in a dual mode with half of the inputs being SDI and the other half being IP if needed during the future transition from SDI to IP. This function will be immensely helpful when we decide to switch over to an IP functioning facility. The Sony XVS6000 switcher frame enables us to use all our current keying graphics hardware and operational procedures for live operations in the same way that we do for the current switcher frame. This function will save the station an immense amount of money on additional hardware and changes that may be required with another manufacturer. This will also save an immense amount of time in training on new keying procedures and functionality if we require different hardware or a different keying output type. The Sony XVS6000 with 16 separate keyers on 3 layers of DME enable the station to properly utilize Zoom and Teams software for live studio operations in a way that the current hardware is not capable of. Each keyer can bring in a separate video signal from either video conference system software to enable much quicker switching and participant selection when live. Currently we must limit our participants with each conference software due to the limitations of the current switchers’ keying capabilities. Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification.
