Specifications include, but are not limited to: Aquatic Education: Contractor shall deliver a standardized fishing education curriculum approved by FWP for students and teachers during the school year (typically runs from September-June). However, sometimes the contractor will occasionally oversee fishing clinics outside of this timeframe during the summer months. Classroom lessons will be approximately one (1) hour in duration and will promote public understanding of fisheries and water quality issues, cultivating responsible, informed, and ethical behavior among resource users to help them better understand and enjoy the aquatic environment, improve angling skills, and increase user safety. Lessons will advocate the sustained and appreciative use of Montana’s fisheries and water resources. Lessons are primarily about water, fish, and fisheries management, with opportunities to provide lifelong outdoor skills. Some topics include the following: • Fish ID/anatomy Fisheries management Fisheries and water quality issues Outdoor ethics Aquatic user safety Aquatic ecosystems Angling skills (including but not limited to: open water, ice fishing, fly tying, using live bait, using spinners) Classes will primarily take place in person, though distance learning opportunities may also be provided based on need, requests, and feasibility. FWP’s Aquatic Education Coordinator may add to or change the existing material to include a focus on water quality issues, fish habitat, fish management, ethical behavior, and water and fisheries stewardship. Contractor is responsible for notifying Regional Communication & Education Program Manager and/or Aquatic Education Coordinator about procuring and maintaining all equipment, supplies and teaching aids needed for fishing field trips and classroom lessons in cooperation with. Contactor will serve as primary contact with schools and teachers in the FWP Hooked on Fishing program, which will include coordination and delivery of programs. Contractor must promote conservation of wildlife and aquatic resources within the curriculum materials, water safety, and being a responsible angler. Contractor will submit invoices documenting work accomplished and other records and associated expenses to their regional Fish, Wildlife & Parks Communication & Education Program Manager or Aquatic Education Coordinator no more than monthly. Significant travel is expected. The positions will preferably be filled regionally, but there may be instances you are requested to travel outside your usual area of operation. FWP will reimburse for mileage, per diem meals, and lodging. Travel could be anywhere withing the state, and any time of year. Offeror must provide own transportation. Contractor will be subject to performance evaluations at least once per year by department personnel. Contractor must submit to and pass a background investigation prior to participation in the program(s) and maintain liability insurance while serving as a contractor. Wildlife Stewardship Education:
