Specifications include, but are not limited to: system that will meet the current enterprise scheduling, curriculum and catalog needs as well as offer additional functionality in the future. The University utilizes Oracle PeopleSoft ERP and currently uses Ad Astra Schedule and Astra Platinum Analytics for scheduling for both events and academic classes. Scheduling is predominantly centralized in the Office of the Registrar. USM desires to be responsive to student needs when creating a schedule of classes, allowing for quick identification of impediments to graduation such as scheduling bottlenecks and the unavailability of key gateway courses. Our focus is on maximizing the opportunity for students to have access to the most efficient course schedules by providing access to the courses they need, when they need them and therefore, progressing toward degrees as efficiently as possible.; An analytical scheduling solution, with robust reporting can identify unmet needs, inefficient classroom usage, and thus guide departments in course offerings. This will allow USM to move to a more data informed, student graduation focused class scheduling process.
