Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Administration, State Procurement Bureau, is considering a request from the Montana State Library, to award a Sole Source contract to LXM Consulting for Vegetation Community and Botanical Data Products. The determination of this Sole Source purchase is based on the following requirements: 1. The Montana Natural Heritage Program (MTNHP), a program of the Montana State Library (MSL), wishes to contract with LXM Consulting for vegetation community and botanical data products. Deliverables provided under this contract would include: 1. Transition the Montana Natural Heritage Program’s (MTNHP) spatial and tabular data products for Montana’s existing vegetation communities from the conceptual framework of Ecological Systems to the conceptual framework of Groups and Alliances under the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) system, including: (a) Create accounts for the Montana Field Guide https://fieldguide.mt.gov/ for 71 NVC Groups and 199 NVC Alliances occurring in Montana that are consistent with descriptions of these NVC types displayed on the NatureServe Explorer website https://explorer.natureserve.org/ and include sections compatible in content to the existing accounts for Ecological Systems on the Montana Field Guide. Each account should cover the following topical areas: General Description, Diagnostic Characteristics, Similar Systems, Range, Distribution, Environment, Component Vegetation Species, Dynamic Processes, Management, Restoration Considerations. Accounts should be cited with scientific literature as appropriate. Accounts should largely be created through editing and updating of existing accounts on the NatureServe Explorer and Montana Field Guide websites. (b) Provide MTNHP and NatureServe with written comments on how accounts for Groups or Alliances on the NatureServe Explorer website should be updated to describe existing vegetation types in Montana.
