Specifications include, but are not limited to: F. Specifications for regular and fast dry paint. 1. Paint shall not be diluted, and when applied, the paint shall have a minimum thickness of 20 mils. In the event that testing proves that the mil requirement is not met, the contractor shall re-stripe those areas proven to be deficient at no additional cost to the municipality 2. The long line truck mounted unit shall be manufactured by a commercial company and shall be capable of the following: A. Be able to apply more than one line simultaneously. B. Be able to heat the applied material to 200° F. C. Have a 400-gallon material capacity. D. Be able to apply reflective beads, under pressure simultaneously to the painted line. E. The truck shall be calibrated to apply the required amount of paint stated above at the maximum travel speed of twelve (12) miles per hour. Higher travel speeds will not be allowed. F. The truck-mounted unit shall have a working meter that is capable of recording the actual amount of linear feet striped. Approximation by the contractors will not be acceptable and in the event of discrepancies in the number of feet striped, the municipality’s records shall govern unless the contractor proves otherwise. 3. The material for centerline marking will be of a MDOT (Maine Department of Transportation) specification – (oil base or water base) Hot Dry Traffic paint to be dry in a maximum of two (2) minutes. The line will be protected by safety vehicles and will have no run-over or tracking. G. The safety vehicles accompanying the line striper will consist of vehicles with flashing beacons. All vehicles will display signs indicating line painting in progress. H. All information in regards to paints and materials to be used for pavement markings shall be submitted to the Public Works Director for approval prior to application. Paint shall be thoroughly mixed during performance of the work to ensure proper applications and compliance with the specifications.
