Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Glendale owns and operates the Thunderbird Reservoir, which is utilized to store water and maintain hydraulic grade for Pressure Zone 2 in the City’s potable water distribution system. The Thunderbird Reservoir was installed in the mid 1980’s and several components at the facility are near the end of their useful life. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the reservoir and Zone 2/3 control facility and construct a new booster pump station. A structural inspection of the reservoir was performed in October 2022, which identified required improvements. Additional upgrades are also required to improve water quality. The City has elected to separate the identified improvements into two phases. The first phase of this project will focus on the rehabilitation of the reservoir roof, which must be completed between November 2023 and March 2024 during low demand. This phase of the project is currently being designed under a separate contract by another engineering firm. The second phase of this project will be design by the firm selected under this procurement for design and construction administration services. This phase will include improvements to the reservoir’s mechanical, electrical, and water quality systems, the rehabilitation of the city’s Zone 2/3 control facility, and a new booster pump station adjacent to the Zone 2/3 flow control facility. This work is scheduled to be completed before the end 2024.
